About Us

At its inception in 2019, Initiative for Her focused on advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), recognizing education as a critical pathway to long-term community transformation.

Since its founding, the organization has worked with local schools in Homa Bay County to build libraries serving over 4,000 children, while also providing various educational support. We have also championed sexual and reproductive health activities and messaging for female youth in the region, contributing to increased awareness and empowerment.

In partnership with Wine to Water, Initiative for Her is currently working with 125 households that have been provided with water filters, an effort aimed at improving access to clean water and reducing water-related infections. The initiative focuses on women-led households, each with an average of three to seven children, strengthening health and well-being at the household level.

To work alongside women, girls, and rural communities to strengthen their agency and capacity, and build pathways to education, health, and dignified lives.
